To cope with the scarcity of resources and neglect by the state a form of self-organization has emerged within disadvantaged communities.
The appropriation of public spaces, creative design, self-built homes or balconies describe a widespread "do-it-yourself" mentality in suburban areas of Romania. This project aims to reflect on a western perception of materialism and socio-economic inequalities.
What is our norm of material wealth based on and why are conditions of poverty commonly associated with a state of passivity?
